2 Year Anniversary for my Blog

Various anniversaries usually stay imprinted in our brains so that we automatically buy a gift or a card to commemorate the occasion. Unfortunately, I have hit the tip of the nose end of the menopause (medical science informs me that I’ll approach the tail-end in about 8 years). This has therefore created in my 47 year-old brain the inability to remember certain things. It doesn’t scare me in the slightest. I just get a bit forgetful sometimes. Like remembering where I’ve left something, and going upstairs to find that I can’t for the life of me figure out what it was I went up for. But I’ve had this since I was about 5, so I’m not overly concerned.

This brain lapse incident upset me a little though yesterday because I realised that at the beginning of January this year it was my Blogging anniversary. Yes my dear friends, it has been 2 years since I began my blog, and it feels like it’s been quite a long time.

Looking back over my blogging journey, I’ve realised that it has always been a learning process and continues to be so. If you decide to start a blog you must do it with no intention initially of making money from it. There are millions of people out there that are blogging and to get even a small amount of traffic is an achievement. I also remember at first, that I had loads of ideas for blog posts, but after a while it can begin to dry up, so joining Facebook groups and getting to know fellow bloggers gives you the inspiration for new ideas. I use social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Mix (used to be Stumbleupon), Google+, Pinterest, Instagram and Medium. I have also joined one called ‘Buffer’, so I’ll see how that works.

If I have any advice for anyone that would like to start blogging I’d say this. When you begin, try not to sell straight away. Using your blog as a means to make an income is great don’t get me wrong, it’s just that I feel that if readers visit your blog and see loads of stuff trying to sell, like using affiliate links, it can put people off. I know that if I visit a blog to read, and it’s full of selling adverts, I just wont bother reading any posts. I want to see the person first behind the writing. But that’s just my personal feelings on this. If you do want to sell straight away then go for it; and give me some advice! Cos I need it. Seriously 🙂

Anyway, I was looking at my stats and I would like to share some of them with you.

First 10 countries that visit my blog in order…United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, India, Brazil and the Philippines.

The usual time for the most views in 24 hours… 1 am, UK time. (I think this is because most of my readers are from America, South America and Asia)

Top search words in 30 days…Dating, relationships, money, anxiety, depression, nightwear!

Top referring sites…google, mix, facebook and pinterest.

Most popular posts.. artwork, food, relationship problems and anxiety.

I must say it’s been fun and interesting, and as I look back at my first posts, I have come to realise if anything that my spelling has become better!

For the first 2 months I had about 8 readers a day and I felt like giving up. But after a while, I realised that by joining social media platforms it will get your material noticed more.  I’d like to share with you my first ever blog post. Happy blogging x

I am a mother of two children, and have had many experiences in my life that I have been through and had to overcome. I feel it would be beneficial (at least to me, and perhaps you) to share my experiences. I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions. x
