A Beautiful Day

A Beautiful Day #1

Happy Diwali to everyone! Diwali  is mainly celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, and it’s a festival of light that lasts for 5 days. It is a spiritual victory of light over darkness.

Diwali is a time for celebration in the community and at home. Families give and receive gifts, have firework displays, eat lovely food and spend time together. It’s a big religious festival in the town where I live. Unfortunately, people cannot come together this year, because of the Corona virus, so the celebrations are quieter. However, I wanted to say Happy Diwali to everyone out there today, and I hope you all have a happy and fun time together.

And on that note, here are some things I’ve seen on the web. and food that I’ve eaten that has made me feel very happy this week:

I absolutely love ‘Bored Panda’. Full of quirky topics and photographs. This made me giggle today, take a look https://www.boredpanda.com/funny-instagram-vs-reality-pics/

I work in a school. Look at this glorious nostalgic loveliness of the chocolate sponge with chocolate custard. How is a girl supposed to lose weight, with these wonderful smells infiltrating classrooms at 11 am 😁I ate it at 12.30pm last Wednesday. It took me back to my school days. I was in a heavenly bliss; and then I came crashing back to earth 5 minutes later and had to teach geometry!!! 😯

I’m a bit addicted to TikTok. I think this belly dancing technique is great. I’m going to practice for 2 weeks because I’m working from home. Gin will not be consumed whilst practising, for obvious reasons, and I apologise for the soundtrack. If there’s one sound I cant abide it’s Shakira’s warbling. Great tutor though. https://www.tiktok.com/@mel_hoare/video/6894685283271380225

I also watched a fascinating clip a few days ago about the length of time it takes to get to Mars. Take a look https://youtu.be/s43X6S9I50c The technicalities of the procedure are mind bending; well it is for dimwits like me! I have a friend that’s a physicist who tried to explain that each second of the journey has to be calculated with precision, because of the way Earth and Mars are aligned. I love science, from a distance!

I’ve got the Daily Telegraph as an app on my phone. I really like this online newspaper, (it is a conservative tabloid, but I put that aside because I’ve never voted in my life, I just think it’s well-written, informative and interesting) especially the lifestyle section. Anyhow, I came across this really great article entitled ‘Best Christmas gifts for teenagers’. I was talking to a friend the other day about the constraints of a mobile phone, and the way you could take photographs with an Instant Polaroid Camera, and that great memory would be processed and sitting in your hand within the next 20 seconds or thereabouts. It was a 70s thing! I’m going to buy one for my friend 🙂 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/christmas/0/best-christmas-gifts-teenagers-2020-present-ideas-girls-boys/

Kind of addicted to this website at the moment..https://www.howstuffworks.com/

Take a look at this quirky little bike..

Have a beautiful day ☀️

I am a mother of two children, and have had many experiences in my life that I have been through and had to overcome. I feel it would be beneficial (at least to me, and perhaps you) to share my experiences. I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions. x
