I’ve Made a New Years Resolution

I’ve made a resolution for the year ahead. In fact, I’ve made a list of them. It’s a good thing to do I feel because even though the majority of the resolutions are not achievable, it’s the positivity of having a few goals in mind that will bolster up your life and give you a bit of a purpose. Even if its only for the first few weeks!

This year has been a bit of a strange one for me to be honest. I had a few anxiety episodes to contend with, but my depression has been plodding on without any significant bumps so that I have felt a little more in control for the majority of the time. My working pattern was a bit hit and miss but this also seems to have settled into a more even tempo. My kids are healthy, which is the main thing, and my social life has improved to the point where I am considerably less lonely than the year before. And I completed a course and passed an exam which I hope will improve my job prospects next year.

I still have goals or resolutions though, and here’s some of them:

I desperately need a more permanent job. Supply work is ok but I cannot rely on it.

I want to start selling more of my artwork, and develop more skills when painting.

I have a few money obligations (which is a nicer word) I feel. This has got to be sorted.

I need someone to genuinely love and care for me, and be interested in my welfare. I had a painful relationship. I deserve some pure love now x

2 stone in weight has to come off.

My car is a crate! I need it for work but it’s done 145,000 miles and it won’t go forever. I have to save like crazy for when it gives up. Sooner rather than later.

I have not had a weekend away or a holiday for 5 years. I would love just a simple weekend away.

I long for someone to look me in the eyes and tell me that they love me from the heart. (Could take years this one, but fingers crossed x)

And lastly, as you are probably well aware, there are hundreds and hundreds of lonely people in this country. There are organisations that try and highlight this need that many people experience at this time of year. However, it’s not just at Christmas is it? Many people have to deal with this issue in their lives all the year round. I’ve decided, and I have been thinking about this for a while now, to volunteer with one of these organisations and help the lonely for a few hours as my circumstances permit. I think it’s a really rewarding thing to do, even if it’s just to help out at a centre and chat with people who live alone. Age Uk have different activities that they promote for the benefit of people in this situation and give advice to the public with ways in which they can volunteer their time and resources to help out. This can be through working in their charity shops, providing their own skills to help the aged or being a friend who visits for a chat within a local area. I’ve provided some useful links below for you to take a look at. xx
