Ouch!

Lockdown Poem

I was sitting reflecting on my Lockdown (Yes, I’m in it! My town is still in it!) and the stuff I’ve been up to since the 3rd week of March, 2020. I have now reached the point of no return I think. I must have walked my dog about 13,000 miles, baked enough cakes to fatten me up for the next 50 years and sanded enough wood to cover me in a haze of dust 1 metre thick. And now I’ve become irritated to the extreme and have begun to swear at the most trivial things.

And what makes it extremely challenging, is that the rest of the country are now getting back to some form of normality, whatever that is; and all I can see on the news is people going on holiday and sitting on a beach, going to pubs and having meals and being able to visit non-essential shops. To rub salt in the wounds, the government has announced that cinemas, swimming pools and gyms will be opening very soon.Β

Β So I’m not going to beat about the bush, and declare most animatedly that, it’s getting to me!!! 😒😳

And then, I remembered the great sketch from the 1990s programme in the UK called ‘The Young Ones’, where Vivian walks around the garden hitting his housemates over the head with a cricket bat, voicing his complete frustration shouting….

And here’s my poem:

Lockdown

Bored, bored, bored

Bored, bored, bored

Bored, bored

Booooorred

Bored!

THE END

(I’ve lost the plot)

I am a mother of two children, and have had many experiences in my life that I have been through and had to overcome. I feel it would be beneficial (at least to me, and perhaps you) to share my experiences. I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions. x
