What Makes You Smile?

I was thinking about this today, and I tried to reflect on all of the things that have made me smile this week. The majority of them are quite simple and trivial, but If  you really think long and hard about it, there are probably lots of things that have made you laugh or smile:

Here’s mine:

Watching the latest episode of ‘One born every minute’. The birth of a baby always makes me smile and shed a tear.

Eating peanut butter on toast. The last time I ate this was 2 years ago and oh, how I’ve missed it!

Silly dancing with my 12-year-old in the sitting room listening to ‘J Huss’, very loud. (I love his music)

Eating a cookie dough slab of pudding with vanilla ice cream after a meal out.

My neighbour bringing over some curry and chapatis.

Buying a shirt and tie for my teenage boy who is starting his work experience next week with a local Rugby Club. He looked very handsome and stylish.

Watching ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ on the TV. The valentine’s day episode.

My dog playing with his little Jack Russell mate ‘Baxter’ on the park.

My Art tutor informing me that my paintings this term were good, and I should have more confidence.

Having a coffee and a giggle with my ex-husband after 5 years! I know, I’m shocked too!

Getting into a pair of shorts that were too tight for me 3 weeks ago. I’m on a diet see 😉

Passing Module 7 out of 10 on my ‘Tefl’ course. The end is nigh!

Finally finishing my novel called ‘A Maids Courage’, and smiling at the exciting plot twist at the end.

Purchasing a set of ‘Daler Rowney’ sketching pencils for a bargain price of £3.

Being kissed on the forehead by the man I love. Forehead kisses are the best.

Enrolling on another art course at college for September. Cartoon art and illustration.

Waking up on Wednesday morning and smiling because I’d had good night’s sleep without waking once. This is unusual for me.

Making a scrumptious apple crumble and hearing sighs of appreciation when It was eaten.

Having a good long chat and catch up with my best friend.

My son telling me he loved me when I gave him £5 for his haircut. (This was not blackmail!)

Buying a new dress that I actually like. I’m more of a jeans type of girl so for me to find a dress I actually want to wear is quite rare. (It’s got Polka dots)

A walk to my local park the other day when the sun was shining and the temperature was about 30 degrees at 10 am.

The woman at the newsagents giving me a phone number of someone that owns caravans at a seaside resort in England. They take pets and are quite cheap.

Discovering ‘Tailwind’ for driving more traffic to my ‘Pinterest account’.

Finding an excellent book about drawing portraits from a charity shop.  A bargain at £1.50.

Visiting Loughborough Town Hall and walking around their gallery exhibition.

Lastly, my son helping me do some chores around the house.

So as you can see, if you think really hard throughout your week, I’m sure there have been quite a few things that have made you smile.

I’d love to hear yours.

X Pip
