A Book for a Child’s Well-Being

I came across this book a few weeks ago. It’s significant for me because I work in schools and the subject matter I noticed is great for children. Initially, the illustrations caught my eye because they are so well executed and flow along really well with the story. I studied a course once based on illustrations for a child’s picture book and I can honestly say it’s not easy. The drawings need to grab the child’s attention from the get-go; with the addition of tying in the text.

Ernie’s Mindful Journey is about a frog and his journey to mindfulness and how to use it. What I love about the book is that I can see myself reading it to the class I work with, or individual children with additional needs. The narrative opens up opportunities to converse with children, therefore meaningful discussions can ensue and it enables young ones to express themselves and how they feel. It’s really cleverly done and I recommend it as the illustrations indirectly give the reader a sense of calmness as they read.

You can take a look at this lovely book here.

I am a mother of two children, and have had many experiences in my life that I have been through and had to overcome. I feel it would be beneficial (at least to me, and perhaps you) to share my experiences. I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions. x
