20 Seconds Only Please/The Irritation of the Queue

I don’t do queues. This doesn’t mean that I’m not a patient person; I have a good measure of patience when it comes to tolerating my children’s occasional misdemeanours, bickering episodes and mother related carryings on. I have not one smidgen of patience however when it comes to queues. I will stand in a queue if I have to, but it’s just something I find very difficult to tolerate, and if the line is too long, I can’t be bothered to wait and will usually walk away. And what is it with people standing at ATM machines?  I’ve purposely done a bit of personal study on this, because I’ve too…

The Sun’s Contribution to my Series of Unfortunate Events

The sun came out today, which my family and friends were very pleased about. 3 weeks ago England had a one-off day of lovely sunshine. It wasn’t hot, even though us Brits try and stretch our imaginations when recollecting a warm day, it was around the 15 degree mark; pleasant and hazy. It made me feel Tres bien, In uno stato d’amino vacanziero and yearning for a Nadar en el mar. These feelings made me hanker for a new sun bed, which I subsequently ordered from my catalogue, a bright pink shade (to attract flies and biting insects), as you can tell, I am not the brightest button in the…

    Roast Potato

Definition of the word ‘Ruffled’…. To disorder or disarrange someone’s hair, typically by running one’s hand through it. (Oxford English Dictionary) Below is a section from the food menu that I was looking at today as I was sitting outside a tranquil English pub in the countryside. The pub was quite lovely, but it had something that really gets on my t***; a pretentious food menu. Here is the silly word on the menu below. Have you spotted it? They are serving their roast dinners with a ruffled roast potato!!! Why the hell did they put that? As you can see from the Oxford Dictionary’s explanation, to ruffle means to agitate…

    Bruxism-What is it?

Ten years ago, or roundabout, I was sitting in a dentists chair having a mouth impression taken because I was diagnosed as having ‘Bruxism’ which was causing me to have something called ‘TMD’. I would need to wear a mouth guard throughout the night so that I would stop grinding my teeth. This was giving me a really painful jaw ache, worn down teeth and headaches. So what is ‘TMD’? The full name for the condition is ‘Temporomandibular Disorder’, (try saying that when you’ve had 3 glasses of wine), and is a condition that affects the movement of the jaw. It’s the hinge bit that connects your jaw to the temporal…

    Eczema Creams

I’ve not had a bout of Eczema for a few years now. I had a bad cold a week ago and have been feeling quite run down and I think that’s why my eczema has flared up. I’ve also been worrying about a personal issue so that may be a contributory factor but I can’t be sure. I generally get it on my feet, hands, and face, but it’s just affected the back of my hands this time. If you’ve ever had eczema you’ll know how painful it can be. Mine starts with itching that I have to scratch and before long it starts to bleed. The bleeding seems to…

    Clapped Out Corsa

3 years ago, I became a single woman, of which I’m eternally grateful for, and due to my lack of transportation, my uncle who is a car mechanic, got me an oldish car from an auction. His mate, also a car mechanic, spruced it up for me and it has served me and my purposes very well up to this day. The mileage was high 3 years ago but now it’s done 147k and it still keeps going. It is completely roadworthy and just about passed its last MOT, but through wear and tear its just kind of giving up. The guy that did the MOT told me quite plainly…
